Is it hopeless to apply?

<p>Hello. I’ve been stressing over grades in junior year (who hasn’t?) and my dip in GPA has gotten me to be frantic over chances.</p>

<p>The GPAs do not count PE, but count Concert Band
3.52 UW 9-11 GPA
3.62 W 9-11 GPA
3.59 UW 10-11 GPA
3.76 W 9-11 GPA </p>

<p>SAT IIs
Chemistry-780
Math IIC-800
Plan to take USH.</p>

<p>SAT I/ACT: Haven’t taken it yet. What score/range am I looking at? I’m taking Feb. ACT.</p>

Eagle Scout
Boy Scouts-Patrol Leader, Fundraising Coordinator, Troop Guide
25 Merit Badges
Plan to internship at ATI/AMD and Neusoft this summer.
Marching Band-Tuba Player
Tuba Section Leader
California Scholarship Society
National Honor Society
Spanish, Chemistry, Math Tutor
Numerous awards in Boy Scouts.
Marched in Inaugural Parade 2005, Rose Parade 2007 and 2008.</p>

<p>You have not described your curriculum. This is what counts more than GPA at Chicago. This is then followed by essays, which are totaling under one’s control. My S was admitted with a 3.46 GPA.</p>

<p>Nice SATIIs and ECs. Study for that ACT and aim for 32 and up. That’ll help offset your relatively low GPA. What’s the deal – massive grade deflation?</p>

<p>After reading it’s “How we use your stats” page, they dont’ really care about GPA as much as the other colleges. Hooray for that.</p>

<p>I go to Arcadia High School, a public school in Arcadia, CA. I’ve been told there’s grade deflation at my school.</p>

AP Physics C
AP US History
AP Calculus AB</p>

given your sat ii’s, I don’t think the ACT’s will give you much grief. Just make sure you are familiar with the form of the test, and that you are not sleep-dreprived before you take it. </p>

<p>no matter what your stats are, if you think you’d like to go, apply. Having said that, your stats are certainly within Chicago’s range… you have no reason not to apply.</p>
