I got a 168 on my PSAT (combination of bad test day + crappy curve). I scored a 1820 on the first and only practice SAT I’ve taken (BB#1). I was wondering how realistic i can be about my score increase for the January 23 test? I have 2 weeks off for winter break so i was hoping i could use those two weeks to study hard and efficiently?

I’m hoping for a 2100+, how realistic does that sound? Have you seen score increases from 1800’s to 2100’s or 2200’s? Thanks.

It seems that the problem is not related to a lack of reasoning skills but to a poor vocabulary. This is important because vocabulary can be learn and improved.
It is certainly possible to get a 2100.I don`t know about 2200.You need a lot of luck, but honestly if you work hard and improve your vocabulary, you are highly unlikely to score below 2000

When I was a sophomore I scored a 175 on my PSAT and practiced a lot over the summer. Now I score roughly 2200-2300 on the tests that I take from the blue book. I improved a lot just because I PRACTICED. Take as many tests that you can before January (use those two weeks well!).

Now one problem is that all your scores are a little low… you’re gonna have to increase all those scores to roughly 700 each in order to meet your goal (700x3=2100) and it’s probably going to be tough.

The good news is that the stuff you don’t know can be learned… if you improve your vocab (you should NOT be getting that many wrong… there are only usually 1-3 hard sentence completions on the SAT) and it seems the main problem you have is context. Instead of studying vocabulary by itself, learn the strategies on how to fit and test a word in a sentence (context).

Study math as well (ESSENTIAL: learn all the things that you are having problems on!) and work on your grammar skills to improve writing.

It’s going to be tough but it doesn’t hurt to try!

Hey, I am in the same situation. I scored a 1990 on Nov SAT without much preparation. I have compiled 20 SATs and a few PSATs to do over the break. Hopefully, I should improve to around 2100-2200. Hopefully…
