Before summer started I paid for my summer classes. It wasn’t a great summer vacation but hey, whatever it takes to be ahead of your class.

Anyway I made a good attempt to do well and classes ended last Thursday.

While all this is happening there were some complications with my financial aid form. Apparently my social security number wasn’t enough to verify I was indeed an American citizen. o_O??

Then I got it all figured out and told them I wont be needing their aid (they weren’t going to give me anything anyway) and I applied for a loan. Now all I need to do is send them a check for the other half of the cost of tuition today. (BTW I’m gonna have to work my butt off this fall)

So today I wall all excited to find out how I did for the American Literature and Speech class I took this summer. I went online, logged in, clicked on “My Grades” and what did I see?

“You have one or more holds against your account. Until these holds are cleared you cannot view your grades or schedule or submit a housing deposit.”

I checked what my holds were. Turns out because I haven’t paid for my fall tuition yet they decided to hide my grades from me.

Is this illegal? I paid for my summer classes so shouldn’t my grades come with it? If I were to not go to school this fall I’m sure I’d be given the grades. So what does that mean? Does my school have the right to hold my summer grades all because I haven’t paid for my fall tuition which I haven’t taken yet? Granted if I started the fall semester i’d understand but I think this is ridiculous.

I’m not angry that I can’t see my grades but the fact that the money for my fall tuition has an effect on my summer activities. Something i already paid for.

The check I hand in today won’t be given with a smile, but probably with a complaint.
