On the BB2 answer explanation website on CB, I’ve read a few essays chosen as 6s that express a conservative viewpoint. Test 1, 6 score essay:

I am a very left leaning liberal, so I’m afraid of writing something that the readers might disagree with. I assume that the majority of the readers will be liberal, so am I just being paranoid in seeing all these conservative essays on the CB BB2 site?

bro calm down. this is not an election. Its the SAT. The reader gives scores of 6 if you have a well written, coherent essay. It doesn’t matter what position on the topic you take as long as you have followed the rules of a well written essay you will be fine. p.s. im taking the SAT in an hour.

I think the key is not to be offensive. A viewpoint is fine, but statements that are derogatory are not going to give the reader a positive view of you, even if they agree with your position. I think the post you quoted is edging into that offensive territory by stating that universities are cesspools, etc. He/she could have said the same thing using much less inflammatory language. Given that this is such an important test, you want to be very cautious of crossing that line. You don’t want to give a reader an excuse to knock you down a point for being offensive, even if they’re not technically supposed to do so. Just my two cents.
