NEU was not my top choice school and I got waitlisted from my top choice. What i’m planning to do is to try to transfer there after a semester. I want fairly good grades at NEU, so I was just wondering how does the grading curve or whatever work at NEU?

Thats a waste of money go to community college for a semester or year

I just finished a year at a cc and pretty much saved my parents 50 grand and just got in as a transfer for fall 09. Go to a cc and get the hard classes out of the way like math cause it will be way harder at nu

If you got into your first choice for spring semester i think CC might be an option but i highly doubt you are going to be able to transfer in from a CC after only one semester. A lot of what the grades are depend on what your major is, and i think grading difficulty per major is generally true for all schools. If you are majoring in psych or communications youll be fine. Hard sciences are harder, and if you are there for architecture, engineering, or pharmacy do not expect a 4.0, but colleges know which majors are tough and they definitely know the schools you are coming out of. I would try and make sure you are taking classes that you know will transfer so keep in touch with the school you want to transfer into.

Most of it is how much effort you put into it. I took Organic Chemistry for Chemistry Majors first semester plus a bunch of intermediate level honors courses, and I got a 3.83. On the other hand, my roommates are international affairs majors who took pretty much all electives first semester, and they all have around 3.0 because they just didn’t bother to try at all.

the only reason im not going to a comm college is because if i still dont get accepted to my top choice, ill still have neu which is a very good school

i am a business/finance major

I am sure youve seen this, but if you are looking at Lehigh we are ranked 1 spot below them so I would say get a 3.5 and you should definitely be all set. Lehigh just wants to see that you will be successful after making the jump from high school to college.
