Man this is out of control. Not only did Yale beat Harvard in early apps, but I think it’s also gonna beat Harvard in regular apps. It seems like everyone I talk to is either applying to Yale or knows a bunch of people who are.

I think the reason is that saying “I wanna go to Yale” carries so much less stigma than saying “I wanna go to Harvard”. (Not to mention that Yale is so much better anyways). So smart kids who just wanna add an ivy league school to their list pick Yale. Anyone else notice a ton of kids applying this year?

i dunno, im applying harvard, my parents have visited boston a few times and they say its just about the greatest place ever. yale is my second choice though. (then stanford, but i doubt i can get into any of them)

at my schools 4 people are applying early to yale, 4 to harvard and 4 to princeton, so its pretty spread out. im from philadelphia so basically everyone applies to penn, but i’m not sure how many early.

It’s not just you. At my school, around 12 applying ea to yale, and about 8 to harvard (although many of the Harvard applicants are legacies). Brown is the other “hot” ivy, with 10-11 applicants early as well.

Harvard has developed such a stigma, that people are embarrassed to say that they are considering Harvard. For some reason, Yale seems to be the underdog, and is therefore more popular.

I heard that Yale got far more early apps, maybe I should have applied to Harvard after all… lol

It’s like Rolls Royce and Bentley. Every yo yo knows the first, but knowing the latter is a sign of discernment. Harvard is Legally Blond; Yale has the cachet.
