We have changed the “CC Classic” style back to fluid width. It seems like many of the complaints were from users of that skin. To change your forum skin, scroll to the bottom of the page, look in the lower left for a drop-down selector, and choose “CC.”

Thanks - that would help (haven’t tried the skin change yet) but now there’s another problem -
There’s an inconsistency between the two skins (can you tell I’m a developer?)
CC managed to convince me that I like the ‘fresh’ look okay and now I’m used to it
I periodically frequently clear my cache and cookies which, if I’d have switched to the ‘CC’ skin, would switch me back to the default ‘fresh’ skin and the annoying narrowness

I vote (I know I don’t get to vote) for reverting back to the normal width for both skins or better yet, all skins if you add more. Out of all the posts responding to the change as far as I can tell not a single poster likes the change and many are pretty vocal against it. That’s a rare unanimity.

I think the CC developer tries to follow Facebook and major news network websites. Unfortunately the information presented on CC pages are different from the information on Facebook and new network websites. The narrow pages on Facebook and network news are suitabe for contents that have a lot of pictures and no long dialogues. Viewers of Facebook and other sites will have a better grasp of the headlines and pictures on the square shape of pages. On the other hand, CC readers need a sense of continuity and the pages that fit the screen width are more suitable.

I did not read #38: “By the way, one other change is on the forum home page, where we created a new space to feature content created by CC members: visit reports, campus photos, and campus videos.”

Now I understand the motivation.

Maybe each CC member should have an avatar and some profile pictures.

Hmmm, I had switched to “Fresh” a while back when the whole color change thing was done and I got used to it and now like it.

Can’t those of us with the “fresh” look have the same width as those with the CC look?

You (Roger) said most of the complaints were by those with the CC “skin” but what if those of us with nice FRESH SKIN (ha ha) also “complain”?? Can we have what they have too? Wahhhhhhh!!! :(

I don’t particularly care for the “fresh” look but don’t want to have to change the look every time I come to CC. I second the request for the regular width on fresh.

I think that this offers a remarkable compromise. People who like the newer versions of skins and fixed width can enjoy all the latest bells and whistles. People who do not like changes to the old and proven format can keep things as usual.

Best of both worlds, as far as I am concerned.

Whenever i go away and come back the page automatically opens in “fresh”, so if i want “classic” I have to change it. Isn’t that the same for everyone?
