This is a heads-up to our community to let you know that starting Sunday, January 21st from 10pm ET, the CC forums will be in READ-ONLY mode as the tech team is working on migrating our servers. We anticipate that posting and commenting will be turned back on on Tuesday, January 23rd, in the morning, at the latest.
We are confident this necessary step will help us make the site more secure, strengthen our infrastructure, and ultimately provide a better user experience.
Once the site has been migrated and read-only mode turned off, you will be able to enjoy your CC experience as you know it. Additionally, we’ve simplified the navigation experience:
Removed the heart icon in the main navigation
Simplified main navigation for smaller screens (mobile) 2 menus instead of one hamburger menu with all the items
Improved main navigation for desktop (new UI for navigation drop downs)
CC Logo on talk.com (now on desktop same as on mobile) will bring back users to the talk.com homepage
Removed the dropdown with classic and card view option
Updated UI/UX for sign up and sign in modals
We thank you for your understanding and support and we’ll work hard to complete the migration as soon as possible!
If there’s an unforeseen issue and we can’t log on (as happened a few years ago) will you please post updates on your Facebook page, and check there so users can let you know of any problems they encounter? Thanks in advance!
Hopefully that won’t be the case, but if there are unforeseen events I can post an update on FB to let everyone know. I will also be updating the blue announcement bar on the forums.
Do you think you can make it possible to have a delete button for fourm replies during this update. It sometime interupts the flow of reading when a bunch of posts are edited to say del or delete.
If I recall correctly, the number of reaction icons was drastically reduced last year due to performance issues? If this upgrade solves those issues can we get back a few more icons (the ones people asked for the most)?
@Ae1231, @DadOfJerseyGirl, the scope of the update is to migrate the servers. We will look at all other improvements after the migration is successfully completed.
