Is it me or...

have the clues on Jeopardy have gotten really easy over the years?

I’ve been watching jeopardy for about two years, and I find the clues fairly easy. Maybe you’ve just gotten smarter.

The clues on Jeopardy have changed in content over the years, which might make them easier or harder, depending on what you know more about.

When Harry Freidman took over as producer in the late 90s he sought to make the show younger and hipper, so he got rid of the Seniors Tournament and eventually replaced it with the kids tournament. He also altered the category topics as well. There used to be a lot more academic stuff – Shakespeare, Opera, Science, etc. But now they have a lot more pop culture stuff – celebrities, sitcoms, etc.

Harry had also been (and I think still is) the producer of Wheel of Fortune as well, which meant that Jeopardy started having a lot of Wheel of Fortune categories – stuff like “Before and After.”

Jeopardy still has some academic material in there, but the balance has definitely shifted. Whether that makes the clues harder or easier depends on whether you know Shakespeare better or pop culture better. For me Jeopardy has gotten harder, because I did well with the academic stuff. I was lucky that I competed on Jeopardy back in the mid-90s before the shift occurred.

I don’t like game shows much. But the clues are faitly easy for me (when i used to watch)
