I am currently a sophomore and I am planning to skip a year of Spanish because I do not have room. I intend to resume Spanish during my senior year. My teacher told us about Clepp testing for Spanish, where it’s supposedly less rigorous than Ap exams. However, I do plan on taking the Ap class and Ap exam senior year. Is it necessary for me to take the Clepp exam during my sophomore year? I already got 3 years of Spanish in. Thanks!
CLEP is different from AP exams. AP exams are usually associated with the class though some students take them without taking the class/self-studying. Majority of colleges accept AP for college credit but not all schools take CLEP credit. It is not necessary to take the CLEP exam, but you can if you want to try to get college credit for certain schools.

okay thank you! Schools such as Ivy leagues don’t accept clepp right?
I know that Harvard, Cornell and Yale don’t accept it but idk about others
You can go to the college board website that batatachal posted. They have a search page that tells you what CLEPs are accepted by the colleges and universities you are interested in. Type in the name and a screen pops up to tell you what CLEPs are accepted. But, if you have your AP Spanish applied, when you are a senior, that takes care of that credit with your university. I would say CLEP wouldn’t be necessary. That would be two tests for the same credit. Try to keep up some of your Spanish during your off year so that returning to it your senior year will be a little easier. If you decide agains the AP exam after all, then head for CLEP.
