Hello everyone!!! As many of you may know, ACT scores come out on Tuesday - and this time of year always comes as a rush of a reminder that I have test anxiety!
My test anxiety not only occurs before I take the test, but also when I’m waiting for scores. I consistently have nightmares in the nights up to the test, and the nights up to the score release dates that are essentially just me finding out that I got a 25 or something and acting like its the end of the world. Also, on the mornings of the tests, I psych myself out and often begin shaking.
I was wondering if it is normal for teenagers to feel this amount of test anxiety, and if not, what steps can I take to weaken the effects of it?
I don’t know if anyone saw this or cares - but scores are out now and I feel like a boulder has been lifted from my shoulders! I got a 33 composite, with 34s in everything but math, which I got a 31 on. I feel so much better & although I will be retaking it to improve my math (my confidence in math took a toll this year, which was definitely a big factor in my score), I no longer feel like my life is on the line
Very happy for you! Try to remember how you feel now and picture being on the other side of it the next time you are feeling anxious near a test date.
