Is it ok if the postmark for tax returns is a day late?

So I just found out Cornell wants 2005 tax returns submitted by Jan 1… and everywhere on their site they say adhere by the deadlines. Is it ok if it’s a day late in the postmark date?? I’m attaching a note to their office about this too.

Send it anyway…you have wiggle room. You could fax it and attach a note that says they’ll get it in the mail a day late.

Put it in the mail. Monday (jan 1) is a holiday, and Tuesday all mail service has been suspended in memory of President Ford. That being the case…no mail will be processed Monday or Tuesday.

But…folks…really do check your deadlines and adhere to them. Some schools will allow the “wiggle room” and others simply will not.
