Is it OK if we substitute planned GE courses for other courses?

As, long as we inform the UC campuses, it is it OK if we substitute planned GE course for another course that fulfills the same requirement, right? For example you have an “introduction to music” course planned to fulfill the arts course requirement but you decide to take an introduction to “theater course” instead (they have the same units and fulfill the same GE area). If you inform the campuses of doing so by email, is this OK?

If I KNOW right now that I plan on taking a different course, should I resubmit my transfer update now before the deadline of January 31? I already submitted my update…

To answer you first question, yes. It is absolutely okay but you should communicate this change ASAP to each and every school you applied to.

For your second question, yes. You should resubmit the update if you KNOW 100% that you are changing classes on/before January 31st.

Should I still get in contact with each campus if I resubmit the transfer update with the changes to my planned coursework?

If you resubmit the update this should be more than enough information and no need to contact them.

Did you apply to UCB as well? If so, make sure to resubmit their update if any of the information on the UCB update forms are altered or effected by switching the GE class.

Thanks so much for your help Tony! Another question: My TAGs won’t be in jeopardy if I make this change, right?

From everything I heard, no. They really do not care about what classes you take to fulfill IGETC just so long as you complete it by spring. All the best!
