So I want to submit my SIR (commitment) to UCI soon, preferably by tomorrow so that I can apply for housing, however, I want to talk to the financial aid department to see if they can do a reassessment once I explain my financial situation. Is it okay if i submit my SIR before talking to the financial department or will it affect how much aid they’re willing to give me/reassessment knowing that I’m already committed to their school?
Please let me know as soon as possible, thanks!
Of course, it’s ok. Just understand that you might have lost your deposit if things don’t work out. There is no way to know if the fin aid dept will even know you submitted your SIR so quickly, and absolutely no way to know how that will affect an individual fin aid counselor in adjusting your aid. BUt given this is a public school, there probably are only certain set things that allow fin aid adjustments anyways, and you either got them or you don’t.
Okay thanks so much, you answered my question perfectly.
