Is it OKAY to ask teachers about upcoming tests, assignments, and activities often to keep on top of things? A couple of my teachers don’t really tell us what’s up in advance (like a couple of weeks before something). I’d like to know if we will be tested on notes, assignments, lectures, etc. This won’t be a bother to ask right? Do you guys ask teachers these things often too?

Depends on the teacher and your way of asking.

I agree with fizix2, and it also depends on how frequently you ask.
Few things are more annoying than a kid who asks “Is this going to be on the test?” or “Does this count for marks?” for every single thing…

Uh, there’s a point. Are you that person who’s always like, “Will this be on the test?” -that is a surefire way to annoy a teacher, and she probably will just say, “yes, that’s why I’m teaching you…”

On the other hand, asking for an update of if a test will be this week or next (for example, we have a big trig unit in math, so I asked the teacher on tuesday whether the test would be this week or next) is okay. I would do it sparingly, it just annoys teacher…

Indeed, it can be annoying when there are people that scrutinize everything to gain an edge…

I’ll have to agree with the posters above. Asking to keep on top of things is definately the right thing to do, just don’t do it too much. Too much in my opinion would be everyday. I’d say asking for an update once every week or two would be fine.

You might ask the teacher if s/he can make announcements about upcoming projects and tests sooner (say, several weeks in advance instead of just one week). However, it can be difficult to plan ahead sometimes, and teachers might not know what’s on the test until they make it the night before or something.

Don’t ask too often, and try to gage how welcome these questions are by your teachers’ responses and tones. Also, use your common sense when it comes to what might be on a test. If you’ve done several similar problems in class and for homework, chances are that problems like those will be on the test.

I can’t imagine a teacher getting annoyed if you ask at the appropriate time (i.e. don’t raise your hand in the middle of a lecture to ask.) As long as you ask at the right times, and don’t do so too often, there shouldn’t be any problems.

And yes, I do sometimes ask my teachers about upcoming deadlines. I’ve never gotten a negative reaction from any of them.

if i asked one of my teachers a question like that, tears would come to their eyes because they would think that i actually care.

i think asking once in a while at least makes them like you more. asking always – probably would tick them off

wow what the heck… Most of the time, my teachers tell us that we have a test 2 days before the testday and we usually get tested on material we learned the day b4 the test day… we dont really get reviews… im ****ed… u guys seriously get notices in a week or 2 advance?
