Is it okay to minor in Art Studio? (I am a accounting major)

Hello,

I am currently a sophomore who is majoring in Accounting. I have no plans of changing my major, but I’ve been missing art like crazy. I use to enjoy sculpting with clay. Since you need a Kiln to dry the clay, it is not possible for me to pursue this hobby at home. This is why I’ve been considering a minor in art studio. This minor requires 18 credits. Will this hurt me with employers? Does minoring in art studio sound like a bad idea?

Career CPA here (have worked everywhere from Big 6 to large local to small local to solo). My $.02: no problem at all with minoring in anything of interest to you. If anything, perhaps your art minor will help you stand out a bit to employers.

Great. Thanks for the advice!

Honey, you can minor in anything you want.

Yes, it’s ok and if it makes you happy you should definitely do it. Art will always be in your life and you will be able to pay for your lifestyle through Accounting. Sounds smart to me!
