Is it okay to post here?

Is it all risky to post about your child on this site? Do admissions Officers follow?

Don’t put any identifying information. Don’t name your child’s current school or any specific awards. There are a few admission officers that are in their college specific forums but I highly doubt anyone is reading these posts trying to match parents’ questions with student applications.

…but everything posted here gets indexed by google. So keep that in mind.

I can think of one or two recent cases where a parent said enough here to be identifiable by AOs, if they happened to be reading. Maybe just keep asking yourself “is this saying too much?” if you’re concerned. FYI, you will be asked all manner of background questions by parents if you ask for help. Try to anticipate this and provide any necessary information at the same time as your question.

You can always private message after a certain number of posts.

Anyone know how to go about pm a moderator?

You need 15 posts to PM. You can respond to a PM sent to you,and I believe another mod PM’d you.

If parents didn’t post on behalf of their kids, CC would be pretty desolate between the hours of 6am to 10pm.

Never post any identifying details anywhere online. Colleges are the least of your problem- the rest of the world has access.
