<p>TRAVEL </p>

<p>During the spring, I travel to poverty-ridden areas of Haiti and dedicate my time and services to underprivileged families by building homes, wells, and volunteering at a local hospital.</p>

<p>I say really market yourself so that your involvement in various activities makes sense and fits into a coherent narrative about who you are, how you can benefit from Northwestern and what you can offer it in return. </p>

<p>Your recs would also have to be compelling, showing you're a thinker and can offer great analytical insight in class. The importance of teacher recs are underrated, but they can make or break an application, and I'm not kidding. Choose your recommenders carefully, and be professional about how you approach them. Give them material to work with so they can be specific and illustrate the aspects of you you want to stress in your app.</p>
