is it possible to bake a cake in a dorm?

i really like making baked goods but was wondering if its possible in a dorm. I know a lot of colleges have community kitchens in like the common area but would it be rude to make a cake and use the oven for a while? Also do many people even use the community kitchens?

yeah i am sure its fine,

just make sure there is not some kind of event going on in the kitchen.

Sure it’s possible. The kitchen is there for the students to use.

Not sure about cakes but plenty of people in my dorm spend time in the kitchen baking cookies or cooking a nice warm dinner.

None of us consider it rude, usually when someone is baking cookies everyone rushes down to try some. Baked goods should make you very popular in your residence hall IMHO.

Pretty much anything in the oven is going to take a little time to cook, so it shouldn’t be a problem. If you want to be really courteous bake it at a time that most people wouldn’t be eating dinner, since you’re less likely to interfere then, but even that isn’t particularly important.

It’s certainly possible to bake a cake or anything else for that matter if your dorm has an oven. Just remember to not set off the fire alarm, especially if you are cooking when many people are asleep.

haha am i the only one who thought this was a euphemism for something else?

When I hosted a prefrosh, we baked a cake together. Her dad asked if ‘that’s what they say nowadays’

You can also bake mug cakes in a microwave, which most people have in their dorm rooms. See, for example,
[101 Recipes for Microwave Mug Cakes by Stacey J. Miller](http://www.microwavemugcakes.com/)

Most people don’t even use the kitchen since half of the equipment is stolen within the first week and everyone’s on a meal plan anyway.

I remember one time when some art majors made vagina cookies and got a bunch of the guys to eat them while being filmed. I felt they were taking advantage of the double standard a bit when they started asking different guys to “Lick it slowly.”

This mug cake possibility has changed my life. IM GONNA TRY IT.
