Is it possible to get -1 in math and a 760?

So I just got back my results from the Jan 2012 SAT and I got a 760 in math. I missed 1 question apparently, 53 correct and 1 wrong, giving me a raw score of 52.75. Is it possible for me to get a 760 like this? My friend got a 790 on math on the same test, so I am wondering if an error of this is somehow possible.

Did your friend miss a Fill-in type while you missed a Multiple-choice? In that case, it could be possible.

Both of their raw scores would still be 53 since decimals round. I don’t think your information is correct because that doesn’t seem possible.

He has yet to view his detailed score report so I am unsure, but I figured it wouldn’t make a difference?

Doesn’t a raw score of 52.75 have the same scaled score as 53, since it rounds up? Even if it did not, can .25 make a 30 point difference? I have never before seen on any scale a 760 in math for missing 1 question.

Yeah, it’d have the same raw score if it’s rounded up. Sorry for the mistake. If all of the information you’ve given is true, then I agree; it doesn’t seem possible.

My friend who took the SAT before got a similar score for missing only 1 question on the Math section, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case again though.

I assure you my information is correct. Here are print screens of our scores, sorry for the bad cropping.

The score on the top is my math score, and the score on the bottom is his overall report. Both are on the same date in January of 2012. Is this possible in any way…

Definitely possible–at least, it happened to me, too. I got a 760 in math this January 2012 with only one wrong. Grr!

Wow, CB is getting worse. On average, -2, or 51.5 (rounded 52), would give you a 760. Poopy

Your friend exaggerated his score. A 760 was -1 on this test.

Well let me ask you this. How easy was the math? Compared to BB tests.

When it gets fixed, and it should, his score would lose 2300+ status, lol

Drac - I saw his score report and he had a 790.

Sorry if I am being slow…but I looked at the image and it says 760 on the upper left, but then along the bottom it says 790. Is that two different reports I am looking at? Or is it the same report with two different numbers? A mistake on the on-line reporting would not be unprecedented.

I got 3 wrong (all careless) and I ended up with a 720. Pretty damn harsh curve.

They are two different score reports.

Look closer. The pic says your friend received a 790 Reading.

Streamline. It says 790 in Math as well.

It does? All I can see is the Reading score on my phone. Never mind then.

Is your friend International?
