Is it possible to get an A?

I am taking General Chemistry 161 at Rutgers University. I heard that many people do not do good in this course. Since I took AP chemistry at my high school, I already know the material. The grading system consists of 3 midterm exams, each worth 17% of the grade, a final exam worth 34%, homework worth 5%, quizzes worth 5%, and attendance worth 5%. On the first exam I got a 60% and the class average was 63%. On the second exam I got a 64% and the class average was 70%. My professor assigned study groups and if the group average was 80% or higher, five bonus points will be added towards the grade. If the group average was between 76-79%, 1-4 bonus points will be added towards the grade. Since my group did well on the exam, I got 5 bonus points. There is a grade replacement policy which states that if you do good on one section of the final, it can replace one of the exam grades. Also, before the final exam, during reading days, there will be a practice final exam, and if I do well on it l, it could replace one of my final grades. That means if I really study hard for the final and practice final exam and do well on any of the section, a total of 2 exam grades will be replaced. Is it possible if I can get an A in this class with a curve as well? I know that the curve won’t be too high, but maybe a few points?

Well if you get an A on the section of the final and get an A on the practice final, then it sounds like it replaces 2 of the midterms. That should get your grade to an A.

And believe it or not, but your head will not blow off if you get a B.

Thank you. I want to keep my GPA up to transfer to another school in two years. That’s why I’m worried about this class.
