Yes, some companies will take high school interns.
It’s a real longshot though. Consider why companies hire interns, to screen potential hires, to promote their company back at the intern’s school through the intern’s enthusiasm and to get tech work done. HS students don’t have the skills to offer meaningful work and aren’t close enough to entering the workforce to be looked at for a long term interview. All that said, look at NASA, but know…it’s a very long shot.
Some internships want high schoolers, others college students, but there is no overlap. Two different types.
I suspect most of those jobs come through connections. It’s rare a high school student has the skills to meaningfully contribute in computer engineering.
