Is it possible to get into UC Berkerly University with a Low ACT score but a high SAT score?

I have an ACT score of 23 and a SAT score of 1600 , GPA:3.8 is it possible for me to get accepted?

Yes because you don’t have to send in your ACT score. Just send your SAT score and you are good.

How did you do so poorly on the ACT but ace the SAT? I know they play to different strengths, but that is a huge disparity.

UCB uses UC GPA (capped weighted), Fully weighted and unweighted. https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Good GPA and high test scores are definitely important, but what else to you have on your resume? HS course rigor, EC’s? Intended major?
The personal insight essays also play a significant role in your chances, so you need to have the complete package.

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:

UCB: 14%
UCLA: 14%
UCSD: 44%
UCSB: 54%
UCD: 58%
UCI: 65%
UCSC: 85%
UCR: 94%
UCM: 96%

My intended major is computer science. And the SAT was just much easier for me than the ACT I also play basketball at school and am taking a few AP classes

Your SAT is excellent and UCB will be holistic in their application review but is your GPA of 3.8, your UC GPA? As noted in the above stats, low chance if your GPA is below a 4.2 Capped weighed/Fully weighted. CS is ultra competitive and many 4.0+ applicants are not accepted. Do you have an CS related EC’s which could strengthen your application?

If you are a CA resident, I would apply widely to the UC’s and include some Cal States as solid Match/Safety schools like SJSU. You should also look at Santa Clara for CS. You might get some good merit with your SAT score.

I do not live in California. Web design 2 is the only related class I have right now.

Since you are OOS, you do realize that the California UC’s do not give financial aid to OOS students??? Expect to pay close to $60K/year to attend. Make sure before applying that you know your college budget and your are parents on-board with the high costs.

Santa Clara is private so being OOS will not be a factor. With your high test score, you could garner some merit there. It is also in close proximity to Silicon Valley which is a big advantage for a CS major.

Not to doubt you, but is that SAT score out of 1600?
University of California @ Berkeley is full fee costs to OOS students.

So do I need both the SAT and ACT to get into Santa Clara?

You only need to send your SAT score.

So the ACT is not required?

UC’s require all SAT or ACT scores, not both.
