Is it possible to get scholarships if you have low gpa?

I have a 2.7 right now which is way lower than the competitive academic scholarships. Also, i don’t qualify for need-based finaid. I filed fafsa and got $2000 for the whole school year. I really hate taking out loans as my debt is already filing up. What can I do so I can get financial aid/scholarship of some sort?

Are you an entering freshman?
How much do you have in loans?

It is possible to get scholarships at non-competitive schools.

Basically, there are lots of schools out there that in reality must lower their list price just to get any students. Make them compete for your parents money.

Possible, yes. Probable for large amount, no. Basically, the best students, the ones a school most wants will get the scholarships. Grades do factor into the mix, but it is possible for someone with a not so great gpa to still get an award if there is something else s/he has to make the student desireable for the school. If you are competing for an a scholarship where need is an important factor, or some other thing than just the GPA and test scores, it is possible. But as a general rule, the top students, test score and grades, tend to get the scholarships.
