Is it possible to increase SAT Subject Test score in ONE month?

In my diagnostic test (Barron’s) I scored a low 550 in SAT Maths Level 2. I did not read any tips/ strategies or review any maths before attempting.
I’m in a dilemma, whether to take SAT Maths 2 in December or in Jan. I’m a senior. Is it possible to increase SAT Maths 2 by 200 in a month? Should I take the Dec test?

You can study a whole SAT subject in a month. No problem. Rather, 1 week should be sufficient. Just understand the principles, and work speed. I started from 600 barrons math and I studied 1 week and got an 800. well, Id still advise more studying. 1 week is more of a minimum.

@andyis‌ I actually need to give 2 SAT Subjects. Anyway, you are saying studying for SAT Subjects is easier than studying for Reasoning? What about physics?

Can anyone else confirm?

It really depends how well you know the subject and how much time you can spend studying. If you studied Math before (though you don’t have to now that advanced Math to ace the Subject Test) and can spend in several hours a day, probably a week will be sufficient for you to get used to the format and lessen careless mistakes. However, if you say ‘a month’ as in spending an hour a week, probably no.

I took the Subject Tests before I did my Reasoning Test, and I found Reasoning harder because of the Reading and Writing sections. I didn’t take Physics so I can’t offer you advice on that, but Math Level 2 isn’t that complicated. If you can do a foreign language you should take a Subject Test on that. Language Subject Tests test the basics, so I’m pretty sure you can get good scores with what you studied at school.

I improved my maths2 score by 200 over 3 weeks: from 550 in mock exam to 760 in the actual test.

Get a study guide and read over the chapters you have the most problems with. Then do the practice tests at the back and any other tests you could find.

I was also prepping for 3 APs (non-maths ones) and SAT II USH. So I think you could definitely get a 750 or even 800 in one month.

Yes, you can raise your score, but 200 is very ambitious. If it won’t affect your applications, take it in January, but spend that time studying!!!

Work your butt off and try anyway! drill concepts over and over until you can do them in your sleep and look up anything you don’t completely understand.

GO GO GO
