Is It possible to make friends at HAAS?

I have been reading and hearing things about how competitive and sometimes mean could the students at Haas be. I’m a competitive person and I like being in a competitive atmosphere, but I’d also like to have a good time there and of course make friends. Are the speculations about students at Haas real?

This is a good throat explaining the difference between competitive and cutthroat students at a top b-school. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania/899610-cut-throat.html

Please note, Haas is no where near the level Wharton is.

Can you please post your stats real quick?

This is a good thread* explaining…

Stats:
3.96 GPA
Honors Program completed
IGETC done
Some business and economics awards and scholarships
All Major Prerequisites done

private tutoring business
(5yrs)
…and 5yrs in this country :)

IGETC doesnt get you in HAAS

no it’s not possible to make friends…

jk :D, haas is a pretty easy department and my friends that are business majors say that everyone is laid back and cool and because the classes aren’t really that rigorous, no one’s really that cutthroat.

@talebi818, I know, I just posted whatever I’ve done.
@ anonymousername, that’s nice to know. Thank YOU! :)

This is my first time posting in a couple years. I just graduated from Haas and can guarantee you that it is not that hard to make friends. No one knows who is a transfer and who is a continuing student; most don’t care either way. Is it competitive? Yeah, I guess if you count trying hard to do well as competitive… at the end of the day, every school is going to have extreme study zombies, those who want to do well but have a social life too, and those who just don’t care after being admitted.

@vrlobo What are your plans now that you are a man with a degree?

@vrlobo congratulations!! And thank you for your answer. How were your 2 years at Haas?
