Is it possible to recieve an athletic scholarship during college (D1)?

Basically what title says.

Do you mean, is it possible to join a team as a walk-on and earn a scholarship later? Sure, that’s a carrot that a lot of coaches like to hold out to bring on new recruits. It doesn’t always pan out, but it’s possible.

Yes, generally as a walk-on, in business it’s akin to being in a temp to perm job. It just really depends on the D1 level program you go to a D1 top 20 program that’s already competitive will probably offer that opportunity to a player that is all-star or has academic issues and they need to prove themselves so an unheard of doesn’t really have a chance, but at a lower(maybe less competitive program) your chances get better and better based on your skills. D1 is nice, but let’s face not everyone at that level really has the talent people think. (basketball at D1 top 35-200 the talent pool is about 7-8 people deep on a 15 man roster, D1 top 20 is easily 12 deep in talent)

Yes, depending on performance.
