I go to a large and competitive high school where even the track team makes cuts
Do you have a crew team? My son started crew in HS. In most public schools students don’t have experience before HS so it’s all new kids to the sport. It helps if you are tall, but really, willingness to work really hard is the biggest key. (But if you are thinking start a sport for recruitment purposes then crew won’t work unless you are really tall - like most recruited guys are 6’4” and up.)
And not a sport, per se, but our school has a lifting club, basically for kids who want to work out together and get stronger. That’s not something that’s going to get you recruited, but it’s a good way to add consistent athletic activity and commitment if that’s your goal.
Yeah if you go to tryouts and wow the coaches…
