I’m not sure where to post this question, but does anyone know anything about private school admissions? I just began thinking about switching to a private school next year but many of the schools’ websites specify that applications must be in by January… Is it impossible for me to attend a private school next year?

A good one in CT would be highly unlikely, but there are lots of average private schools that may have openings.

I see on another thread you mention GA. That won’t happen, schools like that have a long, long wait list. they also require testing and girls they take have very high grades (or VERY rich daddies or both).

Oh, how do you know about GA? Darn, I’d love to go there.

Also - do you know of any other good private schools near Greenwich that may still have openings?

You might check Greenwich Catholic. Not in the same league as GA or Country Day but lots of kids who don’t make it into those end up there.

I’m Jewish, haha. Don’t think I’d be comfortable there, but thanks!

My dad’s pretty rich, not millionaire-rich and I have good grades. Do you think I should still just call GA? I’m veryyyy interested in attending.

Maybe look at boarding schools? Lot of Fairfield County kids do that too. Is money an issue? Do you want all girls?

You can call, but the chances are so remote…many influential residents of Greenwich have been banging down their door for years and remain outside the gate.

By the way, were you referring to Rye Country Day?

Hmm… maybe. That’s a big change. Money probably is an issue. I have no preference.

Greenwich or Rye, they both have long lists.

You could definitely find a spot at a boarding school, coed or all girl. They are about the same price as a private college, $50Kish. Though many parents willing to pay for a GA will be OK with this as they probably pay more to feed and entertain you than the cost difference.

Thanks! I think that Greenwich Country Day only goes up to middle school. Do you know anything about Hopkins School or is there a forum on here about private schools?
