Is it possible... ?

After failing three classes in Junior year (Two AP’s, one Honors Math- really bad at math) is it possible to go -anywhere- other than community college in state? (North Carolina) Assuming I retake the classes and get all my requirements done senior year…

It depends. Does your HS replace the old grade or just average them. Honestly, failing that number of classes indicates to me you need CC to get better grounding in the basics.

It honestly depends on the context. If you failed because a parent died, or something like that, most schools will not hold it against you. If you failed because you didn’t try / general laziness, you will most likely end up a community college.

I forgot to add that I got a 31 overall on the ACT if that helps at all. And that’s failing without any special circumstances like a family death…

31? Not bad. I’m sure you can get into various state colleges and some lower-tier privates, but only if you satisfy their curriculum requirements. some require 4 years of math, for example.

A 31 ACT and F’s? Kind of shouts “Slacker!” doesn’t it? I still think you’ll get into at least one state university, based on the ACT score alone.

Do senior grades matter? Do colleges see them? I mean obviously doing well would help, but would it show anything if they were A’s?

It would show that you finally woke up and got to work. Write a compelling essay and you might just have a chance at a lower tier-nonCC. Going to a CC and getting all A’s for a year or two could open up some good transfer opportunities though.
