Is it prestige season yet?

I open this forum and there’s at least three threads all talking about prestige/recognition/fame/caliber in the first page:

Say a regular high school sophomore opens the College Search & Selection forum to get an idea of where to apply next year, reads the threads in the first page, and becomes a prestige whore…

It’s always prestige season.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for prestige to go out of style - not in colleges nor in any other form of human endeavor - Ferrari, Ritz Carleton, Prada, HYPS, Mercedes Benz, Andover Prep., Beverly Hills…the list is endless.

next season will be prestige season too!!!lol

Yeah, Harvard is SO 5 minutes ago. I’m off to ASU.

College prestige is a different matter. Prestige among clothing brands is a largely artificial or imaginary thing. Attending college with amazingly talented peers as opposed to attending with average peers is often a life-changing experience.

Gadad- to an extent, that’s true. But not having prestige doesn’t mean everyone is ‘average.’ I would say that most of the top LACs aren’t prestigious, but the students are definitely talented.

I think talented vs. average could be something determined more by selectivity- not just prestige. And sometimes it’s not that easy, either.

I’d say driving a Ferrari is a life-changing experience too.

Or life-ending experience, depending on one’s driving skillz…

Harvard still pwns all…:)

I agree with brillar - I’m assuming that prestige correlates with selectivity, but I’d definitely opt for the most talented peers available.
