I am currently a freshman and am thinking about applying for transfer admission for the fall. Old statistics say that the acceptance rate is like 40% and ILR’s current transfer guidelines PDF says most successful candidates have at least a 3.4 college gpa. This doesn’t seem terribly competitive assuming you show an interest in ILR coursework. Does anyone have any thoughts? I have not found previous discussion on this. Maybe I didn’t look far enough.
Transfer Rates really depend on the university, see this: http://■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/stats/transfer-acceptance-rates/#.WG78kbYrLVo
Some colleges simply want to take in enough transfers to replace the amount of students transferring out. Other’s, like Cornell, want to have a larger class size after freshman year that during freshman year. Some colleges receive a lot more transfer applications than others. Because of this, many colleges that equal in selectivity for freshman applicants will vary greatly on selectivity for transfer applicants.
