Is it really that hard to get into engineering or am i overthinking?

Yeah I also remembered that classes don’t start right when I move in (or atleast I assume) so

School dependent.

But today many have pre school orientation programs - usually but not always - ar an additional cost.

If you’re an ECE student I can promise you will be studying on weekends. Not all day, not necessarily both days every weekend, but the workload is high in the major. And frankly I think this is a big part of why the dropout rate is high. Kids see their friends with tons of free time and seemingly having the time of their life, while they’re trudging over to the library to find a quiet place to study and do homework.

Many do, or have move in over the weekend and start Monday. One of my kids had almost a week of freshman orientation, but a lot of the activities were mandatory. The other one did one of the freshman orientation programs (I believe 3 days of hiking) but there was a cost and a limit to how many could participate. But then classes started. She also had very few breaks and they went from Labor Day to Christmas break with only 4 days off for Thanksgiving and then a long winter break.

All schools are different.
