Hello. I am currently a math major and I was wondering if I should double major in economics so that if I do decide to work as an actuary I would be more marketable. However, many people tell me that to be an actuary as a Math major I don’t really need the additional major in economics, and that a minor would be just as good. Would it be better to do the major in Econ along with my math major or yo just do a minor and take more math courses? Also when do people typically start taking actuarial exams?
Do more math. Statistics. Probability. People start taking the exams when they feel ready. Studying for the exams is an education in itself. You do realize how many there are, I hope.
