Is this a good thing to do or unnecessary? Traveling for about 10 days in the UK.
Thanks

Theoretically if you are a foreign student not studying in the UK, you won’t get student discount without an ISIC card. Practially, if you have student ID with your photograph on, 99% of the time the student discount will be yours! It’s possible that you will be turned down without an ISIC card, but unlikely at tourist attractions where they see thousands of student IDs every day.

The one time you won’t be able to get discount is some shops (eg Top Shop) offer a 10% NUS discount. NUS is National Union of Students. You have to belong to this union to get such discounts, and to belong you need to enroll in a UK college.

For discount bus and train travel in the UK you have to purchase special cards which cost about £20. This applies to everyone, even UK students. Google under 26 rail card and you will see what I mean.

Student ID will not be accepted as proof of age. You will need your passport for that.
