Is it too late for me?

I am 27 and finally have an idea of ‘what I want to be when I grow up.’ I got into my first choice school a decade ago with a great academic scholarship, went there for a couple years, moved around, took a few community college courses in a different state, changed my major every semester, and after draining my finances, gave up on school.

I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve been working a vast array of dead end jobs, backpacking throughout the states and Europe, and I have nothing to show for it. Am I a lost cause? Are there others like me? Do I stand a fighting chance of getting accepted to a CA school and if so, will I have to explain what I have been up to for 10 years, because some of it is does not stamp me as good ‘college material?’ What is the first step? Please help! I am completely lost.

I don’t have my personal comment other than to say very for people I know in real life take the straight and narrow to college and career, and even fewer are like many of the students here on CC.

The first step is to get copies of all of your transcripts and figure out how many credits you have accumulated. Are you able to relocate or do you need to find a school close to where you live now?
Shrinkrap is right…never too late.
