Is it too late for me...

Exactly what the title says.
I’m new here so I didn’t know where to post this except for the SAT preparation boards, but honestly, is it too late for me…for, well everything.

I haven’t been able to get it through my thick head to actually sit down and study because I NEED to. And after getting my AP exam score for USH of a 3 today, it struck me, well I’m screwed. I am a **Senior **at my high school and I am beginning school in about 2 weeks or so. I spent my summer as a Junior, Sophmore, a freshman, completely screwing around and now I really, really regret it.
I took the SAT free practice exam today and I got what, an awful score of 1300/2400. Go ahead laugh and scoff. Through these tests that I have constantly taken (practice quizzes, vocab quizzes) I keep getting an average of C’s on them, which makes me feel like an “average person” and in turn makes me feel awful. (Not offending with anyone with C’s but since I come from an Asian family…well, you know the rest. Anything but A’s and you are screwed).

Anyway, in my high school, I rank about 4 out of 500 out of my class and I’ve been taking the most ‘rigorous’ courses available to me. I’ve gotten straight A’s during Freshman, Sophomore and finished off my Junior year with 3 B’s (AP. History, Pre-Calc, College Chemistry grrr). I haven’t taken PSAT, SAT, or ACT. I am taking SAT during October of this year. I’ve been doing the same sport for 3 years (JV,V,V) and I have a lot of volunteer hours that I hope will pull through for me.

I want to get into the best college possible and become a doctor. I had my eye set on Notre Dame and University of Washington for a while now but those roads are…
Apparently, the road to that path I totally failed to get on.
Is it too late for me?
What can I do to make my self THAT shining STUDENT that colleges will accept me for?

Take as many AP exams as possible during senior year, bust my butt during senior year, retake my USH exam etc?
When should I apply for colleges because everything I seem to be doing is “late”.

ararararar

AP courses your senior year are just going to be to get credit… If I were you I would take honors classes and AP classes mixed, AP ones in the ones your actually confident you can do well in, and try to keep your GPA/rank up. And study your ass off for the SAT’s and consider the ACT.
I’ve never taken the ACT, never even looked at it, so I can’t help you with that.
But for writing, learn how to write a 12 essay and learn all of these by heart http://www.collegeview.com/articles/CV/application/MTP_Grammar_Rules_Packet.pdf</a>
For critical reading, learn as much vocab and reading strategies as you can. Direct hits, rocket review, and hit parade look like they are winners. For reading strategies you can search around here and use google.
For math, do a lot of practice sections. Get your speed up and eventually you should be able to finish every single problem with enough time to check all of them. Write out all your work when possible instead of doing mental math and use your calculator whenever you can.

Thanks for the advice! I will follow them and bust my ass off. Thank you very very much.
It’s never too late for anything!

Sorry, but I find it very hard to believe someone ranked 4/500 (.8%) in their class is scoring 1300/2400 on their SAT. Are you positive you didn’t accidentally bubble the wrong sheet?

Getting 1300 on an SAT and ranking 4th is a totally different, in my opinion. If you’ve seen Xiggi’s thread, he wrote that being intelligent and getting a good score on an SAT it not the same thing. Many good students with straight A’s get bad scores on the SAT. However, if you are a good student, I think if you study effectively you’ll get a good score on the SAT :]
