Unforseen circumstances have caused me to start school late. I will begin attending a community college as a freshman in March (hoping to transfer to UCLA or USC in my junior year).

The thing is, all my friends started school in September and a couple of them are also thinking of transferring to another university (most likely UCLA) for their junior year. They will be applying for the fall semester 2009. Is it too late for me to even think of applying to UCLA/USC for the fall semester 2009? Is it possible for me to catch up with my friends who started in September so that I may be able to join my friends for fall semester '09?

IM not exactly sure as what you are trying to say. BUT, from what i can understand i do not think it is too late if you have been in CC. People are still applying to transfer for fall 08 semesters to schools. IF, you are starting at a CC right now more than likely you will not have enough credits to transfer as a junior. I mean, its possible but you will have to take like 6 classes. If im correct, ucla or usc both requires well over 30 to 40 credit hours. IF you are starting fresh at a CC as a freshmen by next spring you will have roughly around 35-40. It really all depends.

Sorry, what i meant was… A lot of my friends started their first year of college last September. I will be starting it in March, which puts me half a year behind all my friends…the thing is, all of us want to transfer to a better school in our junior year.

For them, they will be transferring to the colleges of their choice during the fall semester 2009. I was just wondering, is it still possible for me to catch up with them, so that I will be able to start applying as a transfer student the same time they will (which will be in the fall semester 2009)

I suppose that if you took summer classes and/or an overload each semester, then you could make up the half year of credits you are behind your friends. You just have to do the math.
