Is it true that Canadians get mark boosts?

I’m Canadian and am wanting to apply to UCLA. I got about a 90-91% average which is OK for UCLA I think, but I heard from other forums Canadians get mark boosts when applying to US schools because of different grading system.

I also heard that IB students can get a slight mark boost as well, as much as 3-4% because of the rigorous course load.

Last question: I really screwed up on freshman year, getting about 81-82% average because of a really stupid art course I took where I screwed up, without that art course, I would have like an 89-90% average, but yeah I got 81-82%, so like a 2.7 gpa… I did really well soph. and junior year though with very tough course load, getting 98% average. In gr 10, had to take 2 maths, IB gr 10 math, and IB gr 11 math. So it’s been kinda tough…

Could I still get into UCLA? Thanks in advance

UCLA does not count 9th year grades in the GPA calculator, so good news for you. More about UC’s GPA calculations:

As to how much each university will recognize Canadian grade deflation? That’s a college by college discussion.
