i’m an in-state student, but i went high school in oakton, virginia (about an hour away).
i have lived here for my entire life, but will my high school location matter?

and is it true that transfers have an easier chance of getting in?

If you are attending a college now and living in MD, your hs life has very little bearance on your admissions because they are going to compare you to other college transfers.

Your last question is a loaded question…kind of like, “DID YOU HIT YOUR WIFE TODAY?” There is no clear cut answer. For many it is easier because the lightbulb went off and at their CC they pulled great gpas, with competitive course curriculums. For others they took the easiest course loads and pulled C’s.

Nobody can give you a blanket statement about transferring chances, we need to know more details. What is your college gpa, what is your course load like, what is your major.

Is it easier to transfer in these days, YES, BUT, here’s the problem…the economy has been in the tanks for a couple of yrs, kids who were accepted, but could not afford to attend, even IS, went CC and now are coming up as transfers, which means even transferring is going to become competitive. It really is going to come down to your transcripts from your CC…lolly gagged around by taking the easy courses and the answer will be NO, it is not easier. Used your CC yrs wisely, and YES, it is easier.

There really is no flat answer to that question, it is all about YOU and what you have done to prove yourself over the past few yrs.

Just out of curiosity, did you apply IS as a hs student?
