Is it true you need connections to get into NYU?

<p>I was talking to a friend that I really wanted to get into NYU, and they basically scoffed in my face and said the only way I’m going to get in is if I have a lot of connections. Is this true?</p>

<p>NYU has about 40K students, and they accept much more than that. Every. Single. Year. Your friend is wrong.</p>

<p>Even for those with connections, you still need 3.7+/2000+ for NYU to be better than a reach.</p>

<p>Having connections does make acceptance into NYU–and for that matter, any college–a bit easier. :-)</p>

<p>With that said, a student probably doesn’t “need” connections to be admitted. Which school are you looking into? Can you handle the academic demands of the institution? Those questions must also be asked.</p>
