I have heard from numerous sources that for Cornell University, if one writes an essay about exactly what they want to do with their major and life then they have a better chance of getting in? this is for the supplemental essay questions specific to each school. please respond

I highly doubt it. No 17- or 18-year-old knows what he/she wants to do with his/her major and life. Very few colleges even require a major to be chosen until after sophomore year in college.

The main point is that if one knows exactly what one wants to do with his life and his major, then the essay is much easier to write and will most likely be of a higher quality.

However, I doubt that the committee would directly consider whether or not the student had a more or less specific view of his future.

I think that is the case for some specific schools within Cornell: Hotel, Architecture, ILR. It’s not the case for CAS.
