<p>So application deadlines are pretty soon, but I would really appreciate any advice from people who have submitted supplemental music recordings to colleges. I’m applying to some really selective schools, so it might not even have that much of an impact, but I still want to showcase another side of me. Unfortunately I never record my performances, so if I want to make recordings now they would have to be acapella. Would it look unprofessional?</p>
<p>If the piece/song was written with accompaniment I think generally you should include accompaniment.</p>
<p>It’s not really advantageous to you at all to submit a vocal recording unless you are outstanding. It will likely be evaluated by faculty qualified to evaluate vocal performance, not necessarily by the admissions committee. Just saying.</p>
<p>Anyways every school has different policies about supplemental materials. They’ll ask for different items to accompany the recording and different information about the recording and such. Make sure you read their guidelines very carefully.</p>
