Psych and HuG. Really easy ones I hear, but they’re still AP courses. Is it possible, if the only other things I am doing this year is tennis, bunch of community service that everybody with a shot at the good colleges does, and only 1 AP, stats, as part of my regular schedule. Also studying a for the math sat 2 exam towards the end of the year. I am not playing any instrument. Will this schedule be manageable? It doesn’t seem too bad compared to some of the people on here, but then again I am a freshman… ? Input?

Why do you want to self study? It does not increase your course rigor or give you any benefit in admissions. The only reason to self study is if you want college credit but your school doesn’t offer the course. Self studying HuG is worthless- almost no colleges give credit for it. AP Psych may or may not be worth it. Many colleges give credit for it, but sometimes it is only elective credit so it doesn’t help you in the long run.

Also, community service is not required to have a shot at the good colleges. It is one EC out of many and is treated as such. You can do community service or you can do another EC that you are passionate about. Community service doesn’t look better than any other EC.
