<p>Let me explain: all I care about is having a dorm, a bio major, clinical opportunities (pre med), and research opportunities. That’s it. I don’t care about the dominant race, or if the school has 1000 students or 100000 students. I just really care about those four things. Is this weird?</p>

<p>If you’re sure about that, that’s fine. But just to test you on this: when you go on vacation with your family, do you find that your mood or your enjoyment of the trip is affected by where you stay, the weather, your surroundings? If you’ve ever changed schools, or if you’ve done a summer camp or other summer program, were you only interested in the learning experience or were you annoyed by or interested in the other people there?</p>
<p>Some people really do have a laser-like focus on what they themselves are doing and experiencing; they could be in a crowd or by themselves, in rainy Portland or desert New Mexico or tundra-like Minnesota, and it would be all the same to them. They either just ignore the people around them or they simply don’t let those people and their behavior affect them at all.</p>
<p>Most of us are not like that, which is why it’s important for most students to consider the type of campus they will attend. And I asked about your experiences during vacations or when changing schools or doing something else new because going off to college is a major experiment in getting used to the unfamiliar; it will really highlight anything that you have found to be uncomfortable or annoying during other times when you left your comfort zone of your familiar home and school.</p>
