Background: I’ve only been in one relationship, and it wasn’t even serious. Im about to enter my second semester as a freshman in college, and so far all of my new friends either want or are in a relationship. One night I was talking to one of them, and the topic came up, I told him I wasn’t interested in one because it would be too distracting and it would get in the way of my ambitions. He replied with a laugh and told me I didn’t mean that, and said everyone wants a relationship. Im ambitious, Im active in school clubs, and working my ass off to get into my dream school.
I’ve thought about what it would like to be in one again and frankly it just seems like a distraction at the moment, Im happy and have high hopes.

If you’re currently happy with how you are right now then yeah it’s not weird at all.
You seem to have your priorities straight and probably when you’re older you’ll want a relationship. But focus on your current goals.

I don’t want one at all. Lots of people think I’m strange for it, but I don’t care. I value my alone time and my autonomy and I am not willing to give that up. I also place a huge amount of focus on my relationships with my friends, and I know that that would put pressure on any relationship I might have - again, not a tradeoff I’m willing to make.

Lots of people consider a successful relationship to be the ultimate goal, but I think a better one is learning to be happy with just yourself. I’m currently doing that, and if I meet a person that causes me to change my mind, I’ll know that that would be a relationship worth pursuing. It hasn’t happened yet and I’m completely and totally fine with that. I’ve been in relationships before and they weren’t fulfilling, so I ended them. It might be weird in the sense that it’s unusual, but since I’m happy I see no problem with it.

nope. don’t want my life chained to some pole either. yet

Not at all. In facts its said there are around 30 million Americans who have no interest in romantic relationships and/or sex.

Nope, not at all. I have no interest in being a relationship, or really dealing with any of the drama. I know at some point in the future I’ll want it, but for now I’m content focusing on my life and my schoolwork.

It isn’t weird. Not everyone cares about such things, and many college students aren’t interested in relationships, simply having different priorities.

I think the real problem with this stat is that there are around 65 million Americans under age 10.
