Is it weird to add former GSIs on facebook?

Is it weird to add a former GSI you had on facebook? I had a really awesome political science GSI last semester, and we talked a lot during discussion and OH about politics, history, economics, and such.

Our conversations were mostly academic of course, but I really liked him and I’m thinking about getting a future letter of rec/reference from him (for internships, jobs, ect). I’d be good to keep in touch, but we didn’t get to know our PERSONAL lives.

Would it be weird to add him on facebook? I don’t know/don’t think he himself would add his former students.

yeah he wont add you. but you can add him. some gsis dont mind-i added my R&C one becuase she was awesome, i also added a my cog sci gsi frosh year but he didnt add me back lol. it just depends on the gsi and what kind of person they are. also, keep in mind that if you plan to badger them later about research and whatnot to hide your tagged pics of you puking at some random frat house.

I added my former chem GSI, who added me back on Limited Profile. Heh.

One of the biggest regrets so far at Berkeley has been not asking out my cute GSI first semester freshman year. Who knew the rest of my GSIs would be guys!!! oh the agony.

I added my Anthro R5B professor. She’s young and chill though, so it was no biggie.

Addidng GSIs seems like a weird idea. The GSIs I’ve had usually have a holier than thou attitude.

Depends on your GSI(s). I’ve added some of them (most of them are really chill with the idea of Facebook friends, since you’re not his/her student anymore).

I’m now facebook friends with my CS TA and Math GSI
