Is it wise to expunge a grade?

I have approximately two months at the maximum to decide if I would like to expunge my grade eight Algebra I HN grade. It was a B, and is one of only two grades currently factoring towards my GPA (the other is an A in German I). I will mostly get at least one more B in Math before I finish high school, maybe two, and they eventually do pull you down significantly despite the fact that there’s a good amount of grades given out ninth through twelfth grade. I’m not entirely sure if I can meet the VA SOL requirements if I expunge this grade, so I can’t say I actually do have the option (I mean, I do, but if I would have to take a simpler class in eleventh grade in order to get nine SOLs done with for my diploma then as far as I’m concerned, I don’t). If I were to be able to expunge this grade, but would have to jump over just about every hurdle there is in order to meet my graduation requirements, would it be worth it? I’m aiming for the Ivies, so the larger part of me vehemently says: YES. Yet I’m worried about the requirements (and so far the people I’ve talked to from my school’s administration haven’t given me any straightforward answers except somewhat for the head of Student Services who said to call either late this week or sometime next week to discuss it). So…opinions?

So, you want to expunge a “B”? Not a “C” or “D” but a “B” and you aren’t in HS yet and you don’t even know if you will meet requirements needed for to graduate HS and you really don’t know what grades or SAT scores you will get in HS.

What do you think?
