Is it worth applying to Clemson?

I am contemplating and unsure if I should apply as Clemson has become a bit more competitive over the years.

  • My GPA is 3.0 UW (School Does not measure Class Rank)
  • Only took 3 AP Classes (Macro, Stats, Biology)
  • My Counselors Say I have a strong essay ( focus on immigration & enduring struggle) & have 2 recommendations.
  • 1160 SAT score
  • Writer for Newspaper Club & Did did programming for Computer Science Club
  • Work at clothing store
  • Volunteered at my local community center & church
  • From Out of State
  • Played Varsity Lacrosse

Is anyone in a similar situation to me or do you guys know anyone who got in with a low GPA?

I think it will be tough, especially oos. The 25th% sat is 1250, average uwgpa 3.8. My nephew got summer start with a higher gpa and 35 act. It gets harder every year.

I took the December SAT today so let’s hope I fall somewhere in the 1200+ range.

You should apply if you’d like to attend. You can’t get in if you don’t.

There are sub schools that you can likely get into - Ms state, WVU too. An App State and Coastal Carolina are less big time sports but might be good for you too.

You are highly unlikely for Clemson but one never knows.

I will apply and see, I have heard of stories of people getting in with a 2.6 GPA in the past but I am only concerned now because Clemson becomes more harder year after year to apply.

Best of luck. And make sure you have backups !!
