Is it Worth Coming from Scotland to study in Miami?

I’m a student currently studying in Scotland and I have been offered a place for International Exchange at Miami. I’m on the verge of going however I have two problems that makes me unsure. I play guitar and I want to continue playing when abroad. Where I live the music scene is really good and I’m worried that Miami may not offer me enough in that sense since my research so far has hinted that there isn’t much of a scene there. My second issue is I’m not sure what the student social life is like. Whether there’s a lot to do or just some things here and there.
Does anyone have any opinions/experiences that could help me get an idea of the music scene and student life?

Lots of things to do. As for guitar I can’t help you but I assume you’d be able to form a band rather easily.
Do you have other choices?
In any case, MiamiOhio has a very pretty campus and great teaching. It’ll be a wonderful “American college” experience for you from Scotland. Congratulations!

I think that if you have an opportunity to study abroad on an international exchange you should jump at the chance. Living in a new country for a while is such a wonderful experience! Congratulations on your position offer!

Only if you want to see what sunshine looks like.

@Mentalfreaky, if you are looking for formal instruction in guitar then I believe Miami’s music school offers that, plus ensembles to play in. If you are looking for opportunities to play outside of school, there might not be a lot in Oxford, but you aren’t that far from the Cincinnati area and there should be a lot of opportunities there.
